대지는 시카고 시립박물관과 번화가, 컨벤션 센터와 인접하여 광활한 23마일 호수공원의 중앙부에 위치한다.

Program
1924년에 완공된 이전의 솔져 필드는 오늘날의 스포츠 이벤트와 콘서트에 필요한 시야각이나 좌석을 제공하지 못했다. 스타디움은 완전히 새롭게 디자인되고 재개발되었다. 기존에 존재하던 도릭 양식의 열주와 하부 그랜드스탠드의 파사드는 유지되고 재건시켰다. 새로운 스타디움 건물은 62,000 좌석과 133개의 스카이박스, 레스토랑과 클럽 시설 등을 제공한다.
새롭게 계획한 지하공간과 지상의 주차장은 5,800 대의 주차를 수용한다. 북 버넘공원의 재개발 사업은 기존의 열악한 주차장 부지를 68,800㎡ 규모의 추가 녹지로 재조성하며, 편리한 주차동선을 위해 도로를 별도로 설치하고, 눈썰매 언덕, 경찰 기념관, 겨울정원, 참전 군인을 추모하는 6m 높이, 61m 폭 규모의 분수 벽 등 다양한 어메니티 시설로 구성된다.

Concept
초기 디자인에 있어서의 어려움은 유서 깊은 열주공간의 유지로 인한 공간적인 제약 속에서 현대적인 시설을 계획하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 독창적인 비대칭형 배치를 적용시켰다. 클럽 좌석과 스카이 박스를 스타디움의 한쪽에, 그리고 다른 한 쪽에 그랜드스탠드의 좌석을 배치했다. 스타디움은 독창적인 배수방식과 천연 잔디를 사용한 최첨단 경기장을 특징으로 한다. 비디오 점수판과 현대적인 라커, 트레이닝 시설이 추가로 제공된다. 15m를 초과하는 그랜드스탠드는 구조적이면서도 리듬 있는 변형과 진동을 제어하기 위해 대형 댐퍼를 사용했다.

Site
The site is located at the midpoint of Chicago? magnificent 23-mile lakefront park, adjacent to the city? Museum Campus and in close proximity to downtown and the convention center.
Program
Completed in 1924, Soldier Field did not offer the sight lines and seating configurations necessary for today? sporting events and concerts; thus, the stadium had to be completely redesigned and reconstructed. The original Doric colonnades and the lower grandstand facade were retained and restored. The new structure provides seating for 62,000, 133 luxury sky boxes, and restaurant and club facilities. New underground and surface parking facilities accommodate 5,800 cars.
The redevelopment of North Burnham Park transformed unimproved surface parking into 17acres of additional green space, with a new boulevard for improved vehicular circulation and a variety of new amenities, including a sledding hill, police memorial, winter garden, and a 20-foot-high, 200-foot-wide water wall commemorating veterans.
Concept
The primary design challenge was to create a modern facility within the space limitations of the historic colonnades. This feat was accomplished with a unique asymmetrical configuration: club seating and sky boxes on one side of the stadium and grandstand seating on the other. The stadium features a state-of-the-art field of heated natural turf with exceptional drainage. Video scoreboards and modern locker and training facilities have also been provided. The grandstand, with 50-foot cantilevers, utilizes tuned mass dampers to control structural and rhythmic deflections and vibrations.
